TKW: approx. 3,828 kg This is
a very nice piece of the Vaca Muerta meteorite. It is classified
as a stony-iron, mesosiderite, sub group A1. The total known
weight TKW is 3,828 kg approx.. Mesosiderites are formed on
the surface of a parent body when an other one impacts, and
broken fragments of surface eucrite get mixed with olivine and
iron from deep within the body. It is assumed that the eucrites
have come from the asteroid Vesta. The Vaca Muerta mesosiderite
is slitely shocked S1 and has generally a very weathered exterior.
Even though, it shows lots of metal inside and often an interesting
breccication.
