Ref # TS 05, HUCKITTA PAL , Thin Section

Latitude: 22 Deg 22 Min South, Longitude: 135 Deg 46 Min East, Northern Territory, Australia, Found: 1924

We are not claiming that our Thin Sections comply with all requirements of the specification for Petrographic Thin Sections, - but we claim that our Thin Section are just beautiful, a kaleidoscope of colors seen with polarizing filters! Jugde yourself!

Stony Iron Meteorite, Sub Group (PAL), with fragmental olivine shapes, TKW.: 2,300 Kg +

Even though the iron of this ancient meteorite has changed, due to its millions of years of exposure on earth, into meteorite shale it still shows you the beautiful pallasite structure it is famous for and also reacts still very strong to the magnet.

A piece of un-altered Huckitta iron is extremely rare. Not even the Northern Territory Museum owns one. It has got only a small slice on display in Alice Springs, This is on loan from the S.A. Museum in Adelaide.
