Country: Victoria, AUSTRALIA
Date: Fall: 1969, September 28 (1058 hrs)
TKW: 100 kg approx.
Dimensions:
35.7 x 25.2 x 21.7 mm

The
Murchison Meteorite fell on a clear Sunday morning shortly before
11:00 a.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time on September 28,
1969, and a smell of alcohol remained in the air for hours.
This was an extremely important fall of a carbonaceous chondrite
type 2 (CM2) and was widely observed in spite of bright daylight.
This meteorite is suspected to be of cometary origin. More than
92 amino acids, concidered as the 'building blocks of life',
including glysine, valine, alanine, proline, aspartic and glutamic
acid, were found in this remarkable meteorite. Only 19 of these
amino acids are found on Earth. At the SPIE conference in San
Diego, Richard Hoover from the Marshall Space Flight Centre
claimed that he had found possible microfossils in the Murchison
meteorite!
Is
this the 'Genisis Stone'?
This
Meteorite is a MUST for every collection, and we have got the
Permit to legally export these unique pieces from Australia!
This
is a one-of-a-kind flight orientated MUSEUM PIECE with complete Fusion Crust and some Lipping !
Weight: 19.59 g
Radiometric
dating of the meteorite itself suggests an age of about 4.5
billion years, suggesting it was formed at the very beginning
of the Solar System, which makes it among the oldest material
known to exist ( the oldest rocks on Earth being only half its age!).
We
hope you will enjoy owning this unique piece of our Solar System,
your own Space Traveler, from way out there.
