Tektites are mostly gravel-size bodies that are composed of black, green, brown or gray, natural glass formed from terrestrial debris ejected during extraterrestrial impacts. The majority of known tektites occur only within four geographically extensive strewn fields. These strewn fields are the Australasian, Central European, Ivory Coast, and North American strewn fields.
